New Instructor at Federated Flies
Fred Bender, who has been fly tying for Federated Files since January, is currently working as the instructor for the group, with Bill Kopec, Ben Osborne and Albert Wagner.
While the previous instructor, Jim Newell,
has left to pursue other duties (Jim is shown in the photo above at St. Paul's Community Church and Outreach), Fred has been working on some of Jim’s
former tasks, such as taking inventory of materials and tools,
overseeing and helping the fly tyers acquire a skill.

The group is
working on an order of woolly buggers for the Trout Club of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in University Circle. Fly fishing boxes of assorted Federated Flies will be a featured item at The Trout Club's 34th Annual Banquet and Auction to be held at the Museum on April 21, 2012.
The tyers have been meeting at St. Paul’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Fred has also completed some fly tying in his spare time where he resides at St. Herman's House of Hospitality, an Ohio City Power partner organization.
New Horizons
Jim will be missed, as he was knowledgeable and tried to make it a fun experience. However, the group is excited to continue fly tying and practice many of the things that Jim had taught and, perhaps, also some things that they have picked up along the way.
