Handyman Hickie: Dispelling Myths of Homelessness and Joblessness

Handyman Hickie in front of St. Paul's Community Outreach, Ohio City, Ohio.

Ohio City Power Salutes Those Who Dispel Myths of Homelessness and Joblessness

Hickie has been a handyman around St. Paul's Community Outreach ever since I have been going down - about five years.

Ohio City Power would like to commend Hickie on his valiant efforts, hard work, kindness and BIG SMILE.

I ran into Hickie at the Metanoia Benefit at St. Malachi's Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio for the homeless Friday night, but wait -  he wasn't there for a bed!

Read more about the Metanoia Project to house Cleveland's homeless here and about the program's founder Bryan Mauk, a May 2008 John Carroll University graduate, here.

Human Talent, Initiative and a Sense of Industry

Wait until you hear this ... this man has 68 lawn-cutting and snow-shoveling accounts in the neighborhoods surrounding St. Paul's Community Church.  He loves having money in his pocket and says visiting  Metanoia reminds him of where he does not want to end up.

We hear so much in the media about unemployment, lazy people, etc. it's about time we applaud those hard-working individuals who know the true meaning of being happily employed!!

Ohio City Power salutes you Hickie!
